Valued contribution and support of Roquette to the 10th International Congress on Obesity

Early September in Australia sees the end of the winter coming, and the weather and the temperature were excellent in Sydney during the 10th International Congress on Obesity (ICO), which took place from the 3rd to the 8th of September.
Roquette is concerned by the global epidemic of obesity, as evidenced by our interest in producing nutritional products for such problems and some of their complications (sugar substitutes, soluble fibers). Roquette was strongly associated as sponsor with this very major nutritional and medical event, which takes place every four years. The company published a poster showing attenuated glycemic responses after ingestion of products containing NUTRIOSE® soluble fiber or MALTISORB® maltitol.
Nearly three thousand delegates from around the globe traveled to Sydney to attend conferences covering almost every aspect of obesity and related conditions in an array of plenary and parallel sessions, lively discussions and debates.
The scientific poster presented at the congress and co-signed by Professor Jeya Henry from Oxford Brookes University, illustrated the Roquette proposal of incorporating NUTRIOSE® in final products such as pasta or beverages, or NUTRIOSE® and MALTISORB® in biscuits. These foodstuffs will give the pleasure of taste and mouthfeel while inducing low associated glycemic and insulinemic responses and offering sugar free, reduced in sugar and/or enriched in fibers products.
The mean GR value calculated for "NUTRIOSE® pasta" was 37 ± 6, the mean GR value for the "NUTRIOSE®syrup" was 6 ± 3, and the biscuits including NUTRIOSE® and MALTISORB®induced a mean glycemic response of 56 ± 13.
NUTRIOSE® and MALTISORB®, with their outstanding technological properties, show great promise in the formulation of foods for type II diabetics and obesity prevention.
